It’s January and the weather is dismal. The Christmas cheer has well and truly faded from the streets and we’re all strapped for cash. How do you cheer yourself during the most miserable month of the year? If you’re planning a trip, choose a city that never sleeps. While we cannot guarantee good weather, Dublin has so much to do throughout the year. Most of which are indoors! You can save money when you enjoy the great value offered by Aspect Hotel Park West. Museums and Galleries
Retail therapy is an ideal way to cure the January blues but unfortunately, many of us are strapped for cash this time of the year. Lucky most of the museums, galleries and public spaces in Dublin are free to visit all year round. The city wants to make culture, history and art as accessible as possible for everyone, not just those who can afford it.
This is just a small selection of free attractions to visit in January.
January is a great time to get active and fulfil your New Years Resolution to become more active. Not only is it great for your body, but it’s also completely free! Not only do Aspect Hotel Park West offer great value accommodation, but we’re also a great starting place for many scenic walks and hikes. You could visit the Dublin Mountains, anywhere along the Dublin Coast or go further afield to the Wicklow Mountains or Wicklow National Park. Public transport to and from the hotel is cheap and quick and will deliver you to a DART station for onward travel or straight back to Park West. Don’t forget to pop into Rueben’s Bar for a well-deserved pint when you’re done!
Temple Bar Tradfest
If you’d like to learn more about our native music and enjoy some craic agus ceol in Dublin City, Temple Bar host a popular Tradfest, a celebration of all things relating to Irish Traditional Music. The Temple Bar area has a great atmosphere rain, hail or shine but especially in January when there are dozens of musical events taking place. There are many types of events, from well-known musicians to children’s groups and each brings their unique sound and style to show the evolution of Trad music.
Most of the events are free but you’ll need to get tickets on their website, where they also have a full listing of exciting musical events. Rueben’s bar and restaurant is also open throughout the year, offering great quality, freshly prepared food and drink for a romantic night in.
