Sightseeing and Tours in Dublin

Our recommendations for your trip to Dublin

Start Planning Your Dublin Trip

Dublin has everything you could need for a city break. We have excellent restaurants reflecting the quality of Irelands produce, our museums are filled with fascinating artefacts and history and our pubs are well-known across the world for our craic agus ceol. Here are some of the highlights of our fair city, including attractions you cannot miss.

Museums

With a history as rich and varied as ours, it’s no surprise that our museums are popular and packed with interesting exhibits. We have everything from natural and military history to science and art and everything in between.

Our museum quarter around Merrion Square has a concentration of museums and galleries. The National History Museum, National Gallery of Ireland, Science Gallery and Natural History Museums are within 5 minutes’ walk of each other. Best of all, all of the national museums in Dublin are free of charge to visit.

Temple Bar Area

For a night you won’t forget, head to the cobbled streets of Dublin’s historic Temple Bar area, in the heart of the city. Packed with a mixture of traditional Irish pubs, modern bars and nightclubs, there is something for everyone.

There is also a weekly Temple Bar Food Market and plenty of opportunities to sample the delicious Temple Bar Whiskey. Follow the music to whichever pub suits you and you’re guaranteed a great night of fun, dancing and our famous Irish hospitality.

Guinness Store House

It wouldn’t be a trip to Dublin without sampling a pint of the black stuff. Guinness Storehouse, located in the heart of a colourful neighbourhood known as the Liberties in Dublin 8, is Dublin’s most popular tourist attraction.

You spend an entire afternoon enjoying 7 floors of learning, fun and of course enjoying the freshest pint in the world from the Gravity Bar, which gives you a unique bird’s eye view of the city. For your ideal hotel near the Guinness Storehouse, Aspect Hotel is less than 15-minutes door to door.

Dublin Castle

Discover the historic heart of Dublin with a visit to Dublin Castle. The castle dates back to the 13th century and was built on the site of an old Viking settlement. The castle contains a medieval tower, a stunning chapel and perfectly manicured gardens and is the only castle in Dublin City.

The castle is free to enter and is used as a venue for conferences, tours and open-air concerts are often held on the grounds. Accommodation near Dublin Castle is quite overpriced so make sure to enjoy great value on your sighting trip when you stay in Aspect Hotel Park West.

Kilmainham Goal

Another of the capital’s top attractions, Kilmainham Gaol is located on the edge of the city, just 10-minutes’ drive from our hotel. If you are interested in the fascinating political and revolutionary history of Ireland, pay a visit to this former jail turned museum.

You’ll learn about the famous (and infamous) inmates, the crimes they committed during the 1916 Rising and what became of them.

Trinity College

The literal centrepiece and a jewel in Dublin’s crown is the romantic and historically significant Trinity College.

Notable writers like Oscar Wilde once roamed the grounds of the college and were inspired by its Gothic architecture, the rolling greenery, and the world-famous fairy-tale library room.

You can also view the Book of Kells, an astounding hand-painted, illuminated manuscript Gospel in Latin. Trinity College and the grounds are free for all to explore but the Book of Kells has a small admission fee.

Dublin Sightseeing Tour Bus

The highlights of Dublin, including all of the above, are part of a Dublin City Sightseeing Bus Tour that you can hop on at any of the city centre stops.

There are multiple tours run by Dublin Bus that will take you to the best parts of the city centre or the north or side of Dublin including views of our gorgeous coastline.
