    Staycation in Dublin

2020 is the year of the staycation! Aren’t we lucky to have such natural beauty, rich culture and such fantastic amenities right on our doorstep? Dublin has everything you need to enjoy your holiday as a solo, couple, group or family. Whether you are a Dublin native or need a well-deserved break away after 3 months of lockdown, we have a package here in Aspect Hotel catering especially for you. Here are some of the best free activities to enjoy in Dublin on your staycation this year.

    Phoenix Park

Phoenix Park is a must when visiting Dublin. The largest walled Park in Europe contains lots to do for all ages, from scenic walking trails to the best visitor attraction for families in Ireland, Dublin Zoo. The residence of the President of Ireland is also in the park, Irelands very own mini White House! You can also see the native wildlife in the park like, squirrels and the majestic Irish Deer. The Phoenix Park is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, all year round and admission is free. The gates to the Park are open from 7am until approximately 10.45pm every day. Aspect Hotel Park West is only 8 mins by train from the hotel to Heuston station, which is a five-minute walk to the park entrance.

Merrion Square Park and National Museums

This garden square, in the heart of Dublin 2 was designed in Georgian times, with characteristic tree-lined paths and natural features to enjoy. The perfectly manicured gardens are popular with locals, especially on a sunny day. Merrion Square Gardens is also surrounded by some of the most notable and beautiful buildings in Dublin that also happen to be free to visit. Some of the most important include the National University of Ireland, The National Gallery of Ireland, The Natural History Museum and the National Museum of Ireland. Make your staycation in Dublin educational as well as enjoyable by visiting some of our fascinating museums and galleries.

Grafton Street & St. Stephen’s Green Park

Another must when visiting the capital, Grafton Street is one of the main shopping streets in the city and is dotted with the finest high street and high-end brands you’ve come to expect in any bustling city. It sits between College Green and St. Stephen’s Green and is packed with shops, stalls and the notorious street performers and artists will have everyone singing along.

If you’d like a break from shopping need time to run, play or relax in Dublin’s affluent Grafton Street area, St Stephen’s Green Park is perfectly situated at one end.

    Dublin North Coast

The finest stretch of beach on Dublin’s North coast, to us, is the gorgeous Dollymount Strand. Take the train from our closest stop into Connelly Station, then hop on a DART and enjoy the scenery along the way until you reach this popular seaside destination. Dollymount Strand is the closest large beach to Dublin City Centre; its sandy shores run the entire 5km of Bull Island. If you’re ready to get out of the city, this makes a perfect afternoon trip, perfect for romantic walks, exercise or family fun.

    Dublin South Coast

Known as the best seaside town in Ireland, Bray is only 19km south of Dublin reachable by DART, Train, Bus or the N11 road. The rocky, sandy beach is safe and clean and the views from the promenade walk are delightful. You can always enjoy a scenic cliff walk which runs along the coast from Bray all the way to Greystones offering fabulous views on the way. It’s also a great day out for the kids (or grown-up kids!) with a variety of amusement arcades, carnival attractions and a bowling alley lining the seafront.

Most of the main attractions in Dublin have reopened but there may be some extra restrictions for crowd control and to facilitate social distancing. Please check the website for each of the attractions you plan to visit and book in advance where possible.

We are delighted to welcome guests back to our Dublin Hotel with some very special offers while we continue to follow all restrictions.
